With the expected lifting of the city-wide lockdown, the AFL confirmed that the Eagles and Dockers AFLW sides would play a derby behind closed doors at Fremantle Oval on Sunday.

West Coast revealed that reigning best and fairest Dana Hooker had sustained tendon damage to her foot in a household accident, putting her in doubt for the rest of the AFLW season. Hooker was one of four forced changes to the side, with Maddy Collier (concussion), Brianna Green (ankle) and Demi Liddle (back) also omitted. Imahra Cameron, Chantella Perera and Kate Orme were named for their first games of 2021, while recent squad addition Katelyn Pope was included for her AFLW debut.

West Coast narrowly lost to Fremantle by nine points in unseasonable driving rain at Fremantle Oval. The Eagles kept touch with the highly fancied Dockers but the injury crisis continued with the club losing Niamh Kelly (hand), Parris Laurie (leg) and Andrea Gilmore (hand) during the match.
