West Coast named retiring veterans Luke Shuey and Shannon Hurn for their final matches, with Brady Hough also returning from illness. Campbell Chesser and Jamaine Jones were omitted, included in the emergencies with Rhett Bazzo and sub Zane Trew, while Elliot Yeo could not be considered due to a hamstring injury as well as suspension.

Collingwood defeated Essendon to wrap up the minor premiership.

Adelaide spoiled the farewell for Shuey and Hurn, running away in the second half to record a 45-point win. The Eagles threatened an upset when they led by 17 points in the opening moments of the second half, before the Crows took over, kicking the last eight goals of the match. Tim Kelly had 35 touches and Oscar Allen kicked four goals.

West Coast's reserves ended their winless season with another heavy defeat, this time to South Fremantle.

Fremantle beat Hawthorn, North Melbourne leapfrogged West Coast with a win over Gold Coast, Brisbane defeated St Kilda and Western Bulldogs kept their finals hopes alive by beating Geelong.

Sunday 27 August[]

Port Adelaide defeated Richmond, Melbourne beat Sydney and GWS Giants locked in a finals spot at the expense of the Bulldogs by defeating Carlton.

Monday 28 August[]

Amid frantic media speculation, West Coast announced that the board had met and agreed that Adam Simpson would remain coach for the 2024 season.

The club also announced the signing of Claremont defender Mackenzie Webb as an injury replacement for Krstel Petrevski.

Oscar Allen was the Eagles' sole representative in the 44-man extended All-Australian squad, on the back of his 53-goal season.

Tuesday 29 August[]

West Coast revealed that ruck Lauren Wakfer would make her debut in the opening round derby, having missed the previous season while rehabbing a knee injury.

The club also provided an injury update, with only Petrevski (ankle) and Beth Schilling (wrist) ruled out for the season-opener.
