Meanwhile, the club announced the signing of young basketballers Patrick Bines and Brodie Riach as Category B rookies for 2019.

East Perth fell to West Perth by three goals at Leederville Oval, putting them on the brink of elimination from the finals race with one round to play. Luke Partington had 26 possessions and Allen tallied 23 in a midfield role.
Collingwood beat Port Adelaide, Geelong handed Fremantle their biggest defeat of all time, Sydney won their local derby with GWS Giants, Brisbane narrowly defeated their local rivals Gold Coast and Hawthorn held off a determined St Kilda.

West Coast fell to Melbourne by 17 points at Perth Stadium, coughing up a golden opportunity to lock away a top-two spot. The Demons shot out of the blocks, kicking the first four goals of the game, and the Eagles' ability to fight their way back into the match was hampered by the loss of Jack Darling to concussion during the first quarter. Dom Sheed had a team-high 31 possessions and Willie Rioli kicked three goals.
Western Bulldogs beat Carlton and Adelaide held off North Melbourne to end the Roos' finals hopes.

West Coast ruled out Josh Kennedy for another week as he continued to battle a lower leg injury. In better news, Darling was expected to be available to face Brisbane while defender Will Schofield was also a chance of returning from his hamstring injury.
