West Coast made four changes to the side that lost to Carlton, with the headlines the return of Jeremy McGovern, the recall of Tim Kelly, and the resting of under-fire co-captain Oscar Allen. Elijah Hewett also returned from injury while Matt Flynn replaced struggling ruck Bailey Williams. Sandy Brock and Clay Hall were omitted to make way for McGovern and Kelly.
Collingwood thumped Brisbane in a Grand Final replay.

West Coast gave Essendon a massive scare, bursting out of the blocks in the Good Friday clash with Jake Waterman kicking four first-quarter goals as the home side opened up a 22-point lead at the first break. The home side got out to a 25 point lead in the second quarter, but Essendon worked their way back, helped by some dubious umpiring decisions, and leveled the scores by the final change before pulling in front in the final term. Hewett recorded 22 dispoals and two goals in his best AFL game to date, and Kelly also tallied 22 touches on his return.
Carlton thrashed North Melbourne in the other Good Friday match.
Saturday 19 April[]
West Coast fell to Lathlain co-tenants Perth to remain winless for 2025. The Eagles scrapped their way into the contest with a three-goal burst narrowing the margin to a point at half-time, but Perth ran away in the second half with five unanswered goals in the third term. Tom Cole had a team-high 32 possessions in response to being dropped, while fellow omission Williams had 21 touches and a goal to go with 25 hitouts.
Melbourne overcame Fremantle to record their first win of 2025, Adelaide won a grueling clash over GWS Giants and Richmond upset the previously unbeaten Gold Coast.

West Coast provided an injury update, with Elliot Yeo's status uncertain after failing to progress in his recovery from knee and ankle injuries. In better news, Callum Jamieson was set to play his first game of the season after finally overcoming knee and ankle injuries of his own.
