Wednesday 25 April[]

Collingwood easily defeated Essendon in their annual Anzac Day clash.

Thursday 26 April[]

West Coast named young speedster Jack Petruccelle to make his debut against Fremantle. Lewis Jetta also returned to the side, while talls Will Schofield and Fraser McInnes were added to an extended bench.

The club also announced contract extensions for Liam Ryan and Oscar Allen, adding a third year to their standard two-year draftee deals.

Meanwhile, a truce was reached regarding the Glendinning Medal, with Fremantle agreeing to award the medal as normal in Derby 47, before being recast as the Glendinning-Allan medal (named for each side's inaugural captain) for future derbies.

Friday 27 April[]

Midfielder Mark Hutchings and defender Jackson Nelson were the unlucky pair to make way for Jetta and Petruccelle. Schofield and McInnes joined them as emergencies.

Western Bulldogs defeated Carlton.

Saturday 28 April[]

Sydney came from behind to defeat Geelong, Port Adelaide beat North Melbourne, GWS Giants shrugged off Brisbane, Hawthorn defeated St Kilda and Adelaide easily accounted for Gold Coast.

Sunday 29 April[]

West Coast defeated Fremantle in the first Derby to be played at Perth Stadium. In a thrilling contest, a big second term by the Eagles proved the difference as they were able to hold off a determined Fremantle in the second half. Skipper Shannon Hurn split the Glendinning Medal with Docker Lachie Neale while the first of Josh Kennedy's three goals made him the Eagles' all-time leading goalscorer.

East Perth thumped Peel at Leederville Oval by 66 points, with Hutchings responding well to his demotion with 33 possessions and Matthew Allen kicking a career high five goals. The only negative was ruckman Nathan Vardy failing to make it to halftime in his first game of the season.

Melbourne defeated Essendon and Richmond beat Collingwood.

Monday 30 April[]

Luke Shuey was offered a $2,000 fine for kneeing Docker Bailey Banfield while Chris Masten was fined $1,500 for making unnecessary contact to the face of Ed Langdon.

Jake Waterman was named the league's Rising Star nominee for round 6 for his 14 possession, two goal effort against Fremantle.

Tuesday 1 May[]

Both Jetta (calf) and Vardy (groin) were ruled out of action for at least the next week after their respective injury setbacks.
