The selectors called in reinforcements, with Glass, Masten and Rosa returning from injury, Shuey back from suspension and Hutchings named for his first game of the year. Making way were veterans Butler and Schofield, youngster Colledge, McGinnity and Lycett.

Draftee Barrass was taken off the long-term injury list after overcoming his pre-season hip injury, with the defender likely to play for East Perth reserves. Former vice-captain Waters, already ruled out for the season, was placed on the LTI list to allow elevated rookie Sinclair to remain available for selection.

Glass was offered a one-week suspension for rough conduct against Port Adelaide youngster Chad Wingard.
