(27th Eagles player)
A useful utility, Dean Turner was one of the VFL-experienced players signed up in the foundation Eagles squad.
Fitzroy career[]
Originally from Boyanup-Capel-Dardanup FC, Dean Turner started his senior career at East Perth in the late 1970s, winning the Royals' best and fairest in 1981 before being recruited by Fitzroy in the VFL for the 1984 season. He played 54 games in three seasons at the Lions before returning west when the Eagles formed at the end of 1986.
West Coast career[]
Making his debut in round 4 against the Blues, the experienced Turner was an important foil for the youthful Eagles recruits. He played 17 games for the year including an eye-catching 4 goal effort against Essendon.
Turner added a further 15 games in 1988, including the elimination final loss to Melbourne, and 18 games in 1989. In 1990 he played just 6 games, and retired after playing in the preliminary final loss to Essendon.
Post-VFL/AFL career[]
As the state manager at Carlton United Breweries Turner was seen twice a year presenting the trophy to the winner of the Western Derby, before returning to East Perth as CEO.
