The son of former St Kilda premiership player Brian Sierakowski, David was another of the multitude of recycled players who arrived at the club during the Ken Judge era. Injury meant that West Coast did not see the best of him.

St Kilda career[]

Sierakowski was originally drafted from Subiaco as a father-son selection in the 1992 national draft, and played 93 games for the Saints, winning their Best First Year Player award in 1994 and State of Origin selection in 1998.

At the end of the 2000 season he moved to West Coast as part of the Fraser Gehrig trade that also netted Daniel Kerr.

West Coast career[]

Having shown at the Saints that he was capable of filling a key position post at either end and even pinch-hitting in the ruck, Sierakowski lasted less than one game in blue and yellow before blowing out his knee.

Sierakowski returned to AFL footy in 2002, managing 6 games including his best performance in a West Coast jumper, picking up 17 touches, 8 marks and a goal against Collingwood late in the season.

He managed just 3 games in 2003 as he continued to struggle with injury, and retired at the end of the season.

Post-AFL career[]

Sierakowski is a player manager who made the news in 2011 defending his client Patrick McGinnity after the utility was suspended for an off-colour sledge at Melbourne opponent Ricky Petterd.
