"Chipper" Adkins was a speedy midfielder who spent four years on Collingwood's list for 22 games before coming west in a straight swap for Andrew Williams.

Collingwood career[]

The Gippsland Power product was picked up late in the 1998 national draft. He made his debut in 2000 and played 18 games, but sought a trade after managing only 4 games in the next two seasons.

West Coast career[]

Allocated to the Perth Demons, Adkins split his time between AFL and WAFL duties for much of his time in the West. Chipper's most successful season was in 2004, when he played 17 games including the storm-hit elimination final at the SCG, and was awarded best on ground by the umpires in a late-season win over the Bulldogs, the only Brownlow votes of his career.

He managed just 7 games in 2005. The last of them came in round 16 and he didn't feature in the Eagles' run to the grand final, although he was an emergency for the big game. He didn't make a senior appearance in the premiership year of 2006, largely due to a broken leg suffered in the WAFL early in the season, and was delisted at the end of that year.

Post-AFL career[]

Adkins returned to Victoria, where he had a stint with Frankston in the VFL before returning to country footy in the Gippsland region.
