(49th Eagles player)
An athletic key position player, Clinton Browning was recruited to the West Coast squad at the age of 27 after a strong career with East Fremantle.
West Coast career[]
Originally from Mingenew, east of Geraldton, Browning won the Sharks’ best and fairest in 1984 and then kicked 6 goals in their 1985 grand final win before being signed by Hawthorn. Browning spent the 1986 season stuck in the Hawks’ reserves and returned to East Fremantle. He was given a second chance at a VFL career when West Coast were able to expand their squad ahead of the 1989 season.
Browning made his debut against North Melbourne and played four games for the season, twice kicking two goals in a match. He remained on the club’s list in 1990 but was unable to gain selection and was delisted at the end of the year.
Post-VFL/AFL career[]
Browning played on with the Sharks, winning a Simpson Medal for his efforts in defence in their 1992 premiership win.
