Athletic ruckman Callum Sinclair moved from Victoria to play for Subiaco, and impressed West Coast recruiters enough to give him a rookie list spot.

West Coast career[]

A late bloomer, Callum Sinclair spent time with VFL sides Collingwood and Port Melbourne before shifting to WA to line up for Subiaco in 2012. After a strong season with the Lions, including representing his new state against South Australia, West Coast picked him up as ruck depth.

He was promoted off the rookie list for the injured Mark Nicoski and called up for a debut in just the second round of 2013, with Nic Naitanui injured and backup Scott Lycett having little impact in the season opener. While beaten in the ruck, Sinclair impressed with his work around the ground and played 5 good games before the Naitanui return displaced him. A knee injury wrecked the remainder of his season, and he was retained on the rookie list for 2014.

After WCE setting up alignment to East Perth in 2014, Sinclair was consistently among the Royals' best but was stuck as fourth in line at West Coast and given only a handful of games, generally as a key forward rather than in the ruck. He signed a two-year deal late in the year and was promoted to the senior list ahead of 2015 after the retirement of Dean Cox.

2015 ended up being a breakout year for the mature-age ruckman, who displaced Lycett early in the season and kept him out of the side with strong form. Despite a horror Grand Final in which he was substituted out with only a handful of touches, his big year caught the eye of opposition clubs keen for ruckmen, including Sydney who put a big contract under his nose.

Sydney career[]

After being convinced to join the Swans, Sinclair was sent east in a straight swap for wingman Lewis Jetta. Sinclair played 35 games in his first two seasons at Sydney.
