Hailing from Stawell in country Victoria, the burly Tuckey was once upon a time a top 20 pick for Collingwood.
Collingwood career[]
After being drafted at pick 19 in 1996 from the Ballarat Rebels, Tuckey managed just 19 games in 5 years on the Magpies’ list before being delisted at the end of the 2001 season.
West Coast career[]
Thrown a lifeline by West Coast with their first pick in the rookie draft, Tuckey impressed in the preseason and was elevated to the senior list in order to make his debut in the derby in round 1.
Tuckey showed a bit of promise with 9 possessions and a goal in that match, but failed to replicate that form in the second round and was dropped to East Perth. He managed just one more senior appearance for the season, although he did win a premiership medal with the Royals.
At the end of the season Tuckey was too old to stay on the rookie list and couldn’t command a promotion, and that was the end of his brief stint in Eagles colours.
Post-AFL career[]
Tuckey played a further season at East Perth and spent some time in the SANFL before returning home to Stawell to line up for the local side in the Wimmera Football League.
