(190th Eagles player)
Hard running outside midfielder Bradd Dalziell played two seasons with Brisbane before returning to WA in exchange for Brent Staker. He played 28 games in four seasons in blue and gold.
Brisbane career[]
Dalziell was drafted by Brisbane as a 20-year-old in the 2007 national draft after racking up some big numbers in East Fremantle's league side. He made his Lions debut against West Coast, setting a record with 32 possessions.
All up he played 15 games for Brisbane in two seasons before asking for a trade home. Coincidentally, veteran Brent Staker had asked to be traded to Brisbane and so the pair switched teams as part of a three-team trade that also sent premiership ruckman Mark Seaby to Sydney.
West Coast career[]
Essentially used as midfield depth for much of his time at West Coast, Dalziell made his debut early in 2010 and played eight of the first 14 games, averaging 21 possessions, before a finger injury ended his season early.
With the side at full-strength in 2011 he was left at East Fremantle for most of the season, playing just one quarter against Hawthorn after starting as the sub.
Dalziell was given a start against GWS early in 2012 and was one of West Coast's best in the first half before injuring a knee. After coming back through Peel's reserves, he played one more AFL game for the year, coming on as the sub against Port Adelaide.
Out of contract at the end of 2012 and having played just 11 games in three seasons, Dalziell may have faced the axe but was benefited by the off-season departures of fellow midfielders Tom Swift and Koby Stevens. He received a one-year deal for 2013 and responded by having a career-best year, playing 17 games as a half-forward/midfielder and kicking 15 goals.
Despite that, he failed to obtain a new contract in 2013 as the club cleaned out its playing list.
Post-AFL career[]
Dalziell played on with East Fremantle in 2014, finishing fifth in the Sandover Medal, before retiring midway through 2015 due to a knee injury. He continued to stay involved with West Coast as a community development officer.[1]
