Athletic defender Beth Schilling was West Coast's third pick in the 2021 draft.

West Coast career[]

Originally from Bunbury, Schilling represented Western Australia in the national under-19 championships and played in Peel's 2021 WAFLW premiership before being selected in the second round of the AFLW draft. On being drafted, she was described as having the aerial ability and clean marking skills, with the ability to go into the ruck.[1]

Schilling made her debut against the Bulldogs late in the 2022 season, playing the final two games. She started the spring 2022 season in the side, but lost her spot to Eleanor Hartill after two rounds and only made one further appearance for the season, as a backup ruck. Schilling added just another two games in 2023, falling behind Zoe Wakfer in the pecking order, but had a breakout 2024 season. Starring as an intercept defender, Schilling earned a Rising Star nomination and finished fourth in the Best and Fairest.
