Former Carlton defender Angus Schumacher was listed by West Coast as a top-up player early in the 2022 season.

Carlton career[]

Originally from Bendigo in country Victoria, Schumacher was drafted by Carlton late in the 2017 draft (two picks after West Coast selected Hamish Brayshaw). He made his sole AFL appearance late in the 2019 season, coincidentally against the Eagles, and was delisted at the end of that year.

East Perth and West Coast career[]

Schumacher headed west after leaving Carlton, joining East Perth. In 2022, to ensure that clubs would have enough players to field a side each week, the AFL permitted sides to name 20 players on a "Covid contingency list". Schumacher was one of West Coast's listed players, and was taken to Melbourne in the midst of an availability crisis in Round 2. However, he did not end up playing.
