Taylor played a season in the seniors for Perth before being picked up by West Coast in the 1999 rookie draft and shifting to Claremont under the host-club arrangement. Despite a decent season with the Tigers he was delisted at the end of the year.

Taylor remained with Claremont, playing on with the Tigers until 2006.
