A depleted West Coast side staged a big second-half fightback against Richmond at a wet Punt Road Oval, but fell just short. Losing skipper Emma Swanson to suspension before the match and prime mover Aisling McCarthy to injury early, the Eagles were held goalless in the first half before charging back with three third-quarter goals, but the Tigers were able to hold them off for an eight-point win. Mikayla Bowen starred with 21 touches and two goals and defender Amber Ward had a team-high 23 possessions.

From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"Richmond jumped West Coast in the rain with Tayla Stahl kicking two goals in the opening minutes to put them on the back foot.
Compounding their early pain was a serious corked thigh to key Irish recruit Aisling McCarthy, who didn’t feature after quarter time.
By half-time the Eagles were down by 22 points and had not kicked a goal as their forward line, who dominated Geelong six days ago, were nowhere to be seen.
The Eagles midfield had lifted in the second term on the back of youngsters Mikayla Bowen (21 disposals and two goals) and Bella Lewis (18 disposals) and by the third term they’d finally turned the momentum, with the Eagles suddenly going from the hunted to the hunters."[1]
