West Coast broke through for a scrappy win over St Kilda to end a difficult hub stay on a triumphant note. In a match delayed due to a Covid outbreak in the travelling squad, both sides struggled with a strong wind and squandered numerous chances, with both Eagles goals coming against the breeze in the second quarter. Dana Hooker led the side with 20 disposals and eight clearances.

From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"In need of something special, Aimee Schmidt delivered early in the second term with a brilliant snap from the right forward pocket to give her side back the lead.

Against the breeze and momentum the Eagles were able to create opportunities from their pressure and domination at the stoppages, while St Kilda were not able to fully capitalise on mistakes from the visitors.

Kellie Gibson kicked West Coast’s second goal against the run of play but simple missed set shots in the third quarter hindered the Eagles’ ability to extend their lead.

The door was ajar for the Saints at the final break, with the Eagles’ four-point advantage vulnerable given the home side had the strong breeze and were fresher, playing their first match in 17 days."[1]
