Going in heavy underdogs, the Eagles stunned their opponents with intense pressure in the first half, kicking away to a 22-point lead at the main break. Richmond fought back in the second half, dominating territory in the third quarter before finally translating it into goals in the final term, snatching the lead late in the game before Kellie Gibson's goal in the final minute, her second of the contest, put the Eagles back in front. Ella Roberts had 20 touches and five tackles and Jess Hosking impressed against her former side with two goals from 15 disposals.
