The only major change in the playing list was the retirement of premiership midfielder Dwayne Lamb, although a few fringe players that were moved on had success at their new clubs, in particular Matt Clape and Matthew Connell who won premierships with Carlton and Adelaide respectively. The draftees from the class of 1994 were on the whole underwhelming, with Ian Downsborough the only player to manage double figure games. The return of Paul Peos from Brisbane was a popular move.
